| Breast Reduction (Mammaplasty)

Breast reduction, or mammaplasty, removes fat, glandular tissue,
and skin from very large, pendulous breasts, making them smaller,
lighter, and firmer. It can also reduce the size of the areola, as
well as relieving symptoms of back, neck and shoulder pain, bra
strap grooves and headaches. The goal is to give the woman smaller,
better-shaped breasts in proportion to the rest of her body. In some
instances, medical insurance will cover this procedure. Breast
Reduction can be done using several techniques. The most popular
method used in our surgery center is the short scar breast
reduction. This is an incision around the nipple and down the middle
of the breast. There is usually minimal scarring underneath the
breast or none at all. The traditional method utilizes the anchor
type incision, which is still done today, but not as often. The
benefits to a short scar breast reduction are less self-conscious
patients and a more aesthetically pleasing scar. For more
information regarding mammaplasty, please contact our office. We are
happy to send you a detailed brochure on the procedure. For more

Male
Breast Reduction Surgery (Gynecomastia)
Gynecomastia affects an estimated 40 to 60 percent of men. It may
affect one or both breasts. Breast reduction surgery removes fat and
glandular tissue from the breasts, resulting in a chest that is
flatter, firmer and better contoured. This is accomplished with
ultrasonic lipoplasty. For more information regarding male breast
reduction surgery, please contact our office. We are happy to send
you a detailed brochure on the procedure.
