Certified Plastic Surgeon
STEVEN K. WHITE, SR, M.D.
Dr. White is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the
American Board of Plastic Surgery, holds a certificate of Added
Qualifications in Hand Surgery and is a member of numerous medical
societies.
Dr. White has extensive experience in cosmetic surgery, breast
reconstruction, microsurgery, laser surgery and surgery of the hand.
With eleven years of medical training, he has earned the highest
qualifications in the field of plastic surgery and is a member of
the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Aesthetic Society
of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. White obtained his degree in 1975 at the
Citadel, graduating with honors.In 1979, under an Air Force scholarship,
Dr. White earned his Medical Degree at the Medical University of
South Carolina. After medical school, he completed a one-year surgical
internship at Keesler USAF Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi.
He continued his surgical training with a five year General Surgery
residency at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg,
South Carolina. He was selected to a plastic surgery residency at
the prestigious Wilford Hall Medical Center, the largest medical
center in the United States Air Force, which receives referrals
and complicated problems from all over the world.
After residency, he was then assigned to Wiesbaden Regional Medical
Center in West Germany and was promoted to Chief of Plastic Surgery.
He was the first plastic surgeon ever permanently assigned to the
European Theater. While serving in the Air Force with distinction,
he gained extensive experience in burns and facial trauma through
his medical work during the Pan AM hostage incident, U.S.S. Stark
missile attack, and the Italian Aerial Disaster at Ramstein Air
Base. He then left the Air Force and continued in the United States
Air Force Reserves and has currently attained the rank of Colonel.
He has received the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal while serving
his duty at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, SC.
Dr. White has lectured extensively all over Europe and at several
meetings in the United States. He has served on numerous hospital
committees, to include Chairman of the Credentials Committee, Secretary
of the Medical Executive Committee, Vice Chief of Staff and Chief
of Staff of Grand Strand Regional Medical Center from 1999-2000.
He is President and CEO of Carolina Coastal Plastic Surgery Center,
a 15,500 square foot Certified Ambulatory Surgery Center that specializes
in Plastic Surgery.
